You're 100% right. Unfortunately, there's a longstanding and destructive history of new posters showing up just to bash the stock, some of them very effective wolves in sheep's clothing. You see it for long enough, and see the effects for long enough, and it's easy to get a hair trigger for new posters that sound like they fit the bill. As trding said earlier, the trolls intentionally try to sound like new investors at first, which makes distinguishing the two difficult at times.
That said, you're correct of course that a little patience with new posters would probably go a long ways. This board isn't becoming iHub any time soon, because actual longs are the mods here. Good thing it's nearly the weekend and we can all enjoy a cold beverage or two and chill out.
