Forecasts are commonly projected by companies, but that is all it is... a plan... and we all know what happens to plans... some plans pan out and some plans end with "well, we tried...".
If PR's do not produce what they tout, why would anyone "seem to care about the sales forecast the company has released"?
Produce a positive track record and followers tend to believe.
Do not follow through with promises and those waiting for results turn to pessimism.
When previously promised events materialize, I am sure more attention will be given to new promises and forecasts.
