The facial recognition systems built into phones are surprisingly easy to deceive, since they can have trouble telling the difference between a live human being and a photograph of that person.
Trinamix, a division of German chemical giant BASF, aims to address that shortcoming with new technology that can identify a person by detecting their skin and even telling if there’s blood pulsing below it.
