Some companies have gone into major damage control based on comments by employees when said employee said something in public concerning the company or a person.
Joe is the CEO, his exposure is much higher than normal employees. Whether on a CC or an interview or a public board for all the world to see, how he conducts himself, matters. Shareholders see it, future shareholders see it, investment folks see it, everyone sees it.
You can’t undo how you act to the world when you are a high profile person and representing a company comes with an image to maintain.
