Unusual trading pattern today in high volume, most

Unusual trading pattern today in high volume, most trading activities are contributed by trading among Market Makers who have large inventory of shares and who sell shares to and buy shares from investors, they bid at low prices and sell at higher prices and profit from the spread. It seems the MM are changing hands with their shares for unknown reason. In the past if the MM stop trading such as on Fridays, daily trade value is under $10K among small investors. Majority of the investors are long term holders, they don't trade actively for a fraction of penny gain.
