One of the times I called in a buy order, I asked

One of the times I called in a buy order, I asked how long this would need to be done. He responded, he didn't have that information and it wasn't up to Etrade to decide when it would end. I have also been told the reason for the call ins, was to control the volatility of the stock. Not sure if any of this is true. It's just what I have been told.
