And a touchy one for sure because it can be mixed with other, irrelevant human strengths and weaknesses.
I am not an English speaker myself, hoverer many times, in spite of the fact that I speak several languages, some people look at me like saying: "look at this poor guy, he cant EVEN speak (good) English".
Am I an idiot? No, I speak with accent in several tongues except my mother's. However, what I say in English (or any other language) should be what is important not the way it sounds.
Some people (mostly well traveled or culturally open-minded) , get it. Some don't, and some don't want to "get it".
In my opinion, is their loss. I have learn to lisen carefully to what is being said and not to how is being said (with limits of course), and less judge the speaker on his/her accent.
Can NP improve his presentation skills ?? Yes. Can he improve the contents of some presentations? Yes. But I found his enthusiasm and candor re-assuring as, I am not only listening, but trying to read between-lines his body language (if this is possible ).
Believe me, I have seen a good deal of smooth-speaking highly sophisticated CEOs that, after talking for one hour, either convince you of their truth or, one doesn't know what was said, and where the this lies.
No, I prefer straight talk, even with strong accent and, sometimes, overenthusiasm.
