A letter to the President on a first name basis: (

Not to "Sir" or to "Mr. President" or to "The Donald" — for the old hands.
Finally, Donald, America has a leader.
Yeah, finally we can say that again!
You walk a road that we can not possibly know — and you walk it for US!
Less than four years ago you took in your hands the most awesome power and influence ever held by a single human being who will be forever held legendary as you lift the burden of responsibility that has no known counterpart in the civilized world.
Donald, you have become the lineal descent of Washington and Adams, Jefferson and Jackson, Wilson and Roosevelt.
With those men you will be forever linked to the birth date of this republic.
And so you have!
To us sir, You Are America!
Your yes is our yes and your no, is ours.
You are every man and woman in this nation that loves liberty.
You speak to mankind in our name.
You carry the torch that was flamed by Patric Henry's passion for liberty, Tom Paine's "Common Sense" and Tom Jefferson's most uncommon wisdom.
Lifted by those soldiers whose names are known.
And unknown, lie in the only unknown soil this country occupies.
What do we pray for you?
What do we wish from you?
What can we say to help you?
American writers have spoken passionately to this question.
Among them, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas Wolfe: "America — it is a fabulous country, the only fabulous country; it is the only place where miracles not only happen, but where they happen all the time."
A little less than four years ago, at the ceremonies marking your inauguration I thought, tomorrow at high noon on the steps of the Capitol, you'll have in hand the most awesome power and influence ever held by a single human being. Henceforth forever wrapped in legend.
I refuse to accept the end of man.
He will prevail — because among all the creatures — he has a soul and spirit capable of compassion and endurance and sacrifice.
In this country, this is the willingness of the heart.
And as you lead us into the uncertain beleaguered future and the broad swell of continents between the shining seas, let me say for all of those that care for you Mister President in the words of a song you'll remember:
God Shed His Grace on Thee
