GP Solutions (OTC: GWPD), the developer of modular controlled-environment micro-farms, today announced that GrowPods may help farmers reduce risk and increase quality control. According to the update, indoor farms are susceptible to crop failure, and factors including temperature, humidity, oxygen, watering and feeding cycles need to be finely tuned to ensure a healthy crop. In addition, entire crops may be impacted and ravaged through pollination from male plants or insects. The GrowPod system compartmentalizes risk since the pods are sealed. As a result, there is little chance of contamination or, even if there is contamination, it can usually be contained within one pod, mitigating the risk.
