A more recent start-up, Noblr, also requires the use of their app; provided by TrueMotion Inc. Once again, no app no insurance. The folks who started the company used to work at Esurance.
Geico has been testing a usage and behavior app since May that is supposed to have some aspect regarding distracted driving. Apparently, this is a direction Warren Buffett did not want to go but finally gave into the idea.
I think Root and Noblr has started a concept where ONCI can capitalize. Having Geico making a more aggressive effort to address distracted driving adds another positive. As you’ve been saying for a long time, if insurance companies want to improve profits and decrease losses then they’re going to have to incorporate distracted driving and behavior app; and possibly make them mandatory.
