I'm also wondering why the average triglyceride levels of patients in the test was 253 mg/dl. Which is decidedly at the lower levels of the high scale for triglycerides (200 mg/dl -500 mg/dl).
Vascepa approval was for very high range > 500 mg/dl. in the MARINE trial for triglycerides it achieved 27% reduction from baseline. In the MTND trial MAT9001 showed 33% from baseline vs. 10.5% for Vascepa even though Vascepa had a similar percentage in HDL and a much, much better percentage in LDL.
Something seems a little fishy.
