I'd guess used (expired) or soon to be. They can't be defective, but it's strange that someone would buy, decide somehow they don't like it, then dump onto a secondary market. It would be interesting to get a follow-up from anyone who bought the cheapies, I think they were from Ebay, though, not Amazon.
