Seems possible. I would suppose that any large(r) pharma company has some similar decision making factors to consider as do individuals. Surely it is much more complex on that front with boards and shareholders to answer to but I bet they also have to sometimes weigh risk/reward to get something that a competitor might want as well. Interesting times.
