You are right about that ....my uncle was on one of the ships at Pearl outside of the harbor. My father -in- law flew SB2C Helldiver off of the USS Shangri-La. That Carrier was the one that went the deepest into China. In the United States multi thousands of people coast to coast watched the waters for ships and subs. Mind you they were people just like you and me, NOT paid and probably didn't want nor expect money to guard their own love of family and the United States of America.
Everyone it seems expects to be paid or else they won't do any such thing but come a day when and if we lose this Country by lazy a$$es or those (regardless of party) that think that never could happen, that the government is going to save them in a nick of time will be in for a big surprise, the democrats will be in for a big surprise to if they think they will deprive US citizens from protecting themselves.
I got my a$$ kicked as a child and sure some dysfunctional family and mixed messages but a foundation was driven into me. Not all kids needed as much or whatever. I decide this was all BS and grew my hair and raised hell in the 60's. If you look at the old films from the day (holy crap) but and I can't say this enough that I still had a foundation to come back to. Anyways I grew up with a lot of fear but I am thankful I have this foundation I would not trade for the world. I do regret a few things such as I was too chicken to hitch hike to Woodstock. I wanted to see the Beatles but no one knew for sure if they were really going to play.
So, kids grew up and then they become smart right or kick in what what was taught to them. What is this business that someone owes me or someone owes these kids and why in the world do we have dip$hits like the AOC4 clan in Congress. Now talk about something to fear. I could care less about the Quran and I keep on saying I'm going to read it but still haven yet but even so the USA appears to be in change and yes that it must but when I see people like Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi do and say as such and the AOC4 talk the entire or control the direction of the Democrats? DEMo stands for DUMB tonight. Look you know I'm a Republican but Trump needs to shut his face for a while. I am wondering if they can't the President to turn it down a notch or two if the Senate will feed him to the sharks. I sure will never believe that his party hasn't told him to start down shifting and careful of the RPM while changing the gears.
