TN legislator called for ridding US of higher education in order to "end a liberal breeding ground"

God spare us these RW nutters. By this asshole's 'reasoning' Libruls must be the bath water and college must be the baby.

Doesn't appear as though TN will lose much if they close down their colleges....

In September, State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield, BS, Lipscomb U.) declared that he wanted to eliminate higher education (presumably only for women, because abortion) which would save America. His excuse: he was on talk radio. He (still) hasn’t apologized.

OMG, Tennessee lawmaker @kerryeroberts calls for abolition of education. Says we need to move back into caves like the Taliban and stone strangers who harbor progressive ideas like electricity or indoor plumbing.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Republican Tennessee lawmaker says he supports getting rid of higher education because he argues it would cut off the “liberal breeding ground.”

SEN. KERRY ROBERTS OF SPRINGFIELD CALLED FOR ELIMINATING HIGHER EDUCATION WHILE SPEAKING ABOUT ATTENDING A RECENT ABORTION LEGISLATIVE HEARING ON HIS CONSERVATIVE RADIO TALK SHOW ON SEPT. 2.

Roberts specifically called out one activist who testified in favor of protecting abortion rights. He asserted without evidence that the woman’s beliefs were a “product of higher education” and claimed that getting rid of higher education would “save America.”

Hyperbole: exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. Especially common on talk radio shows
