Almost 20% of the Spanish population suffers from some type of chronic pain, that is, the one that does not end when the disease that caused it ceases and persists over time repeatedly, in a period greater than three months after its appearance. Within musculoskeletal ailments, osteoarthritis is the one that occurs most frequently in the elderly and becomes responsible for the loss of mobility. In Spain, according to the results of the latest study of the prevalence of rheumatic diseases in the adult population (EPISER 2016), conducted by the Spanish Society of Rheumatology, about 300,000 people have been affected by rheumatoid arthritis. Other diseases such as fibromyalgia, migraines and diabetic foot are some of the main ailments among patients suffering from chronic and acute pain.
