In regards to HIV cure.
If we listen to NP carefully, and compare it with what he said a few months ago, we shall know what he is saying regarding cure/functional cure/etc.
Few months ago, he indicated that HIV reserviour stays in the body for 9 years. Sacha is assessing how bone marrow, cures in 1.5 years. It seems to be through GvHD mechanism of action.
Yesterday, he mentioned, cure wont be done anytime soon, and it will take years. Means, the mechanism it theory and on the mice is perfect, but on the human, let's not count on it as it this will never be approved. They did bone marrow transplant on mice, which is a deadly procedure (he did explicitly say this word), and used our drug.
Which translates to :They used Leronlimab, so that the bone marrow transplant will not be deadly.
There is a major issue, that I can understand with my limited knowledge. The patient should be on Leronlimab forever, and god bless the guy if he cannot be. Well, he was not going to die in the first place, who would approve putting him on a high risk to die, if he has issues with Leronlimab and cannot take if forever (or for a long time)
So, again, as NP mentioned yesterday, there is a long way to doing that, and let's forget about it for now. Sacha will publish the studies, will we know will look good on paper, but will not be approved.
If you also remember, just last week, he reiterated that we are talking to white house for Prep, every years 40k new people get HIV and if they have once a week injection they will not have it, and over the time HIV number goes down. He didn't even say anything for cure, regarding they white house approach.
Nevertheless, as NP implicitly keeps reiterating, Leronlimab has so many applications, that we can safely forget about this one for now.
