Mikey, you're spot-on that Doc's connection to Ben Carson is huge. Just do a search on Ben Carson and Opioids and you'll find page after page of articles. The current administration has made fighting opioid addiction one of it's priorities and isn't shy about spending huge sums of money to combat the problem.
