Is it possible that an interested suitor company r

Is it possible that an interested suitor company requested shares to be purchased as part of a deal and the company needed the increase in authorized shares to allow such a purchase? Seems that could be just as possible as the need for the shares to be sold to raise operating capital. Certainly don't know but wondering.
