MINING STOCK CERTIFICATES
AND HISTORIC MINES

image: Stock Certificate

Please keep these points in mind when researching your mining stock and historic mine:

  • Stocks were often issued for mines/mining companies for which very little information may be obtained because little or no activity actually occurred.
  • Information on a Nevada mine/mining company may be based on:
  1. An annual report to the Nevada State Inspector of Mines, if a Nevada mine/stock.
  2. An article in a publication of that time--but only if the mine was major!
  • The library staff is not able to determine if there is any value to a stock today.
  • We regret that we do not have staff to search the references outlined below for you, but we will assist you in the library and suggest the tools you will want to use to verify existence of a mine/mining company and/or refer you to sources which, for a fee, may research for any value.

There is no one place to locate this information; it differs by state and country; this research takes time and patience.
  • To help you in your search, the staff will need to know the mine name, state and county of activity and approximate dates of activity.
  • The Goldsheet Mining Directory includes a helpful web page of suggestions for tools to use to research obsolete stock certificates: http://www.goldsheetlinks.com/obsolete
