Insurance companies are used to dealing with pharm companies. They have a long history and they work well together. The pharmaceutical company is offering FDA approved medications and the ins company is happy paying for those.
The cannabis company comes along and tells the insurance company their formulation, that's not FDA approved, is good for a number of ailments. What's the insurance company going to say? Right, piss off....lmao!
Doc wants to change the system by being the bridge for insurance companies to accept cannabis drugs, and pay for them just like other prescription drugs. I don't think a cannabis company could do that.
