PlanetWingnuttia Don Boys, a thoroughly theocratic former state legislator from Indiana who still thinks gay people should be put in jail just for being gay, has a new book out and writes a column at BarbWire promoting it.
The book is called The God-Haters: Angry Atheists, Shallow Scholars, Silly Scientists, Pagan Preachers, and Embattled Evolutionists Declare War on Christians! His column is nothing more than an unhinged, angry screed about atheists.
Angry atheists, shallow scholars, silly scientists, pagan preachers, and embattled evolutionists have declared war against Christ, Christians, and Churches. Of necessity, their main attack is on the Bible for if they can denounce, deny, distort, and denigrate it, they will win more converts to atheism.
They have been waging this war for a few years and most of us have ignored their books, television interviews, university debates, and their typical dog and pony show that the most fanatical God-haters have put on for centuries. They want a fight, and while I consider atheists to be flies on the tale (sic) of a bull, I’m willing to take them on. No quarter asked or given.
I have re-read some of the older critics and found them as shallow, silly, and sarcastic as when I first read them. However, my main criticism is they are unimpressive, untrue, and unworthy of true scholars.
Unlike Boys, whose tone and language are just so eminently scholarly, amirite?
I have spent years researching what the crop of atheists, now called New Atheists, have planned for America. My new book, The God-Haters: Angry Atheists, Shallow Scholars, Silly Scientists, Pagan Preachers, and Embattled Evolutionists Declare War on Christians! reveals that plan.
I re-read books by the famous atheists of the past then read the writings of the New Atheists who have declared war upon most Americans. The main spokesmen are Drs. Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennett, and Harris known as the “Four Horsemen of New Atheism” but that is too colorful. More correctly, they are obsessive, oppressive, and obnoxious God Haters!
The “Four Horsemen” are leaving a mess behind them – their most notable legacy. Their attack upon homes, churches, and schools will be devastating if successful. Like Hitler, (intended comparison) they have made it clear what they want: no teaching of children about Hell or an exclusive way of salvation…
Every New Atheist states his motives clearly: It must be illegal for any teacher, preacher, or parent to teach any child about Hell or an exclusive salvation based on the death and resurrection of Christ. It should be treated as child abuse in the view of Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennett, Harris, and Company and if that becomes law, it will result in a major confrontation where real Christians will refuse to obey that outrageous, obtrusive, offensive, and obviously unconstitutional law.
Um, what? Hitler did that? Do tell. And Hitchens, Dawkins, Dennett and Harris want to ban teaching children about hell? Please document that. Many years ago, I criticized Dawkins for signing a petition that did call for such a law. His response was to say that he did not read the petition closely enough, does not support such a law, and to ask that his name be removed from it.
There’s a difference between criticizing the teaching of children about hell and wanting it forbidden. I would be the first one to oppose such a law and I believe the vast majority of atheists would be with me. This is just empty fear-mongering.
These New Atheists are tacky tyrants and toady totalitarians in the pursuit of their desire to remake America in the old Soviet image. If that happens, blood will flow through the streets as children are taken from their homes and Sunday schools and parents and pastors are charged with child abuse.
Wow, how scholarly of you, Mr. Boys. You know what is missing entirely from this column? An argument. Of any kind. There are loud, angry accusations, but no a single actual argument. There also is not a single quote from any of the people he mentions backing up any of those accusations. Par for the course.
