They're not "sitting on a valuable drug." They made a strategic decision to pursue clinical trials on several other drugs, all of those clinical trials costing in toto much LESS than the $30 million price tag on 1 ABSSSI study, which also would take a very long time to complete.
We have results from the Brilacidin-OM clinical trial and the Bril-UP trial, and the deal with Alfasigma, because of that wise decision.
I get tired of bashers harping on the ABSSSI business, as if the company just decided to abandon the drug for no reason, instead of the reality -- which is that the company made a decision about strategic allocation of resources that has resulted in two different Brilacidin applications successfully completing some clinical trials, and getting a deal for the company.
The same people who are making these phony claims are the ones who would be whining now, if IPIX had gone the other way -- "We've been waiting for years and spent $30 million on the ABSSSI trial and we don't have any clinical trial results yet ! Why did they do this clinical trial instead of the Brilacidin-OM and Brilacidin-UP trials?"
It's just an excuse to bash and complain.
