Yes. He could be paid in cash 1M, turn around buy 400k in shares. Or he could be paid 600k cash 400k in shares+ options. Either way he is taking part of his salary and purchasing shares. I never understood the crowd that says he doesn't because he does, he has pushed for stock options over cash. In so doing that is the same difference, maybe it makes people feel better if the company hands np the cash and then np hands the company back the cash, I don't know. But he way he does it is the smartest as far as taxes goes, if he took 40% of his compensation and did the other method, he would make far less overall in a buyout, because he would pay taxes on that 40% first before buying.
Now should NP be getting $1.5M total compensation if the company is fund raising. I don't think so, I voted no. In the minority again, but it was much closer this time.
Also. at this point I feel NP should somehow participate just as a symbol to those that are frustrated he doesn't (even though with my point above, I don't see that issue).
