It may be that Tristar Air UK Ltd has been formed for any / all of the following purposes (just my opinion at present - I will be investigating):
- Recruitment of ex-Royal Air Force 216 Sqn Tristar experienced personnel - both aircrew and groundcrew.
- Oversee the preparation of the Tristars for a move to the USA.
- Ascertain the possibility of registering the Tristars on the UK Register under UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations - with G-xxxx registrations - which might speed up getting the aircraft into service if ex-RAF pilots who already have an UK Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) are interested in being recruited.
- Marketing the tanker fleet capability to NATO countries who use the "probe-and-drogue" method of AAR - any military air arm equipped with the F/A-18 or F-35B.
