Idk...never been in jail... from my experience

from my experience with my son.
Many people get traffic tickets. His 4 parking tickets turned into $900 and 90 days in jail another incident a guy punked him in a bar...he finished it. He was charged with assault. Spent 5 days in jail before being arraigned (Holiday). Charges were dropped. Police have 30 days to recharge so the charging office after the fact, charged him with disturbing the peace. He was moving around at the time working out of state, so never received notifications from the court. He missed a court appearance. So a bench warrant was issued on him. Months later him and friend were pulled over on a traffic violation friend was driving. They took his ID and found he had a want and warrant and took him to jail. By then $100 fine had turned into $800. Should be said and done with after paying the fine and court fee's. However, somewhere the court missed a $15 booking fee and the bill is now $150 again and I am sure he has wants and warrants again out on him.
Myself once upon a time my son's car was in my name and his on the title. Apparently there was a parking ticked in some city. 8 years after the fact they sent me a letter trying to collect. I called them and they told me my name was 1st on the title so I was responsible. Never been to the city. I said I'll have to talk to my lawyer. Lawyer said statute of limitations had run out and don't pay them a dime. So I didn't. Haven't ever heard from them again.
Some people need to be in jail. However some of the county judicial systems have gone wild trying to maintain their overhead with stupidity.
After my divorce was done. There were some things that still had to be settled. Ex's lawyer had been released. So I had to pay a server $100 to serve the ex with a court motion. I could not send it in certified mail for $10. However had the ex needed to file on me FOC would have done it for her. That is plain BS.
To some point Berine is right. The system is broken.
