You are right it is not easy building a business like VERB and I personally think Rory has accomplished quite a bit in a short period of time. Many doubted he would succeed in going to NASDAQ yet he did. Of course there have been bumps along the way but it is never going to be smooth sailing and he and his team have overcome every obstacle and adjusted the product once they got early versions out there and got customer feedback. All software goes through these phases. I am a senior software engineer and on my current project developing software for a naval reconnaissance aircraft another contractor on the project (a very large well known Dept of Defense Contractor) got fired and we were left with their poorly designed software. We decided it could not be salvaged and completely redesigned and rewrote it from the ground up. The result is not recognizable from what it was 6 months prior (that is how long it took to replace their buggy unstable software which our software actually depended on to work properly). The Navy customer did the right thing in firing that company but they thought we would just “fix” the software rather than throwing it completely away. Replacing it completely was a controversial decision and we had to fight for that as the Navy did not like the resulting schedule slip.
My point is in software development unexpected things occur along the way. Rory and his team have shown the ability to adapt and adjust and that is extremely important to be able to do. Software development is a complex business as is building any small company.
