2013 Bokan Forest Service Enviro Assessment
A couple things from it and one other source of a "Uranium" comment, since our pain-in-the-side had his "independent" Hammond guy accuse "Bokan" as an issue and so did our locally ignored, Aushitz. Also just a couple other good environmental findings to know in advance of final permitting stage. The lack of certain animals, mean a lack of others and humans. Which another Govt ruling has already said Ucore is not in a tribal habitat area and so there is no issues there either.
" Past exploration and mining conducted on the Bokan Mountain site is associated with the Ross-Adams uranium mine, which is a separate deposit from the rare metals deposit and is separated geographically from the proposed project area. Skip to Environmental Consequences ;
Bald Eagle; " There are no known bald eagle nests in the analysis area". Brown Bear; " Brown bears do not occur in the project area". Mountain Goat; " Mountain Goats do not occur in the project area". ---- Endangered Species Act " Biological evaluations were completed for threatened and endangered species. No threatened or endangered species would be affected by the action alternatives".
ANILCA Section 810, Subsistence Evaluation and Finding; " There is no documented or reported subsistence use that would be restricted by any of the action alternatives; none of the alternatives would result in a significant possibility of a restriction of subsistence use of wildlife, fish, or other foods".
Inventoried Roadless Areas; " This project is located within an inventoried Roadless area. Secretary's Memorandum 1042-154 reserves to the Secretary of Agriculture decision making authority over the construction and reconstruction of roads and the cutting, sale, or removal of timber in inventoried roadless areas. This proposal will be reviewed by the Regional Forester for consistency with Secretary's Memorandum 1042-154".
