My thoughts on a BO have always been that a BO will not occur until CYDY's market cap organically approaches the level that I (and you, and others, presumably) believe it should occupy.
I believe this because no BP is going to pay CYDY TODAY for the potential future value CYDY could generate (e.g. BO for multi-billions), because TODAY the market cap is about $150M. Like you said, no one pays more for something than they have to, and no BP is going to out on a limb and grossly overpay (based on current MC) for CYDY then have to explain that to its shareholders.
If/when CYDY's MC approaches 1B+, then CYDY might receive BO offers that are more in line with future value. I am not sure what it will take to get there, but I have guesses (financing locked down, get off OTC, etc.)
If a BO occurs while the MC is hanging around where it is now, I think there will be a lot of disappointed shareholders.
Short version: I expect CYDY to continue to play the "go it alone" game until its share price appreciates to a point where it generates more respect from the market and BP.
What is that level? $1, $2, $5? I have no idea.
