EuroMed: A Licensed Israeli Cannabis Company to be Watching
Last month, we became aware of a licensed Israeli cannabis business that plans to go public in the coming months. The company, EuroMed represents an attractive play on the Israeli cannabis market and we believe that this is an opportunity to be watching.
EuroMed’s operation is located 45 minutes away from Jerusalem and is approx. 275,000 sq. ft. Over the next year, the company plans to significantly expand the size of its facility on this property through a multi-phase growth strategy and we are bullish on the strategy to ramp up production capacity.
Phase I of EuroMed’s expansion will be the construction of a 22,000 sq. ft. modular greenhouse facility that is situated on 100,000 sq. ft. concrete foundation. The strategy behind the foundation will provide the company with an easy route for expansion and Phase I should be completed by the first quarter of 2020. Once the Phase I is operational, the facility is expected to produce 5,500 kilograms per year and should generate at least $22 million per year (assuming a conservative $2 per gram off-take sale to Europe).
One of the reasons we are excited about EuroMed is due to the strategic distribution relationships that are in place. The relationships will allow them to enter the European market which represents a exciting growth opportunity. In this market, demand for both CBD and THC products greatly exceeds supply and we are favorable on this aspect of the story. EuroMed is looking at the existing opportunity in Germany, Poland and Switzerland, and we believe that these markets will make it easy for EuroMed to expand across the continent.
With the Israeli government issuing a limited number of licenses, EuroMed is well positioned to capitalize on a market that is not saturated, and we are bullish on the growth prospects associated with the export opportunity. The fact that the company has been granted an export license makes this an opportunity that has incredible growth prospects and we will monitor how the team continues to drive the story forward.
