Both can be true...dont see contradiction.
Real co ..just wants it all for himself.
Scam co ..just wants salary.
Third option is run co as scam and real co.
Its like a lie..lie has some truth.
A falsehood has zero truth to it.
Bottom line is either way(s) it's not the proper way(s).
