Ice cream chain Baskin-Robbins said Thursday that it is getting in on the plant-based food trend with two new non-dairy flavors: chocolate chip cookie dough and Chocolate Extreme, made with chocolate chunks. Both will be available August 1 and both are vegan, made with coconut oil and almond butter. Baskin-Robbins is part of the Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. DNKN, -0.13% portfolio. Dunkin' announced this week that it's adding a plant-based Beyond Meat Inc. BYND, -0.73% sausage sandwich to the menu in Manhattan. Dunkin' stock is up 26.4% for the year to date while the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.06% is up 20%.
Side note to RIBT, at the last CC the CEO said "Our non-GMO, gluten-free products are.....finding new markets for uses like fiber carriers, manufacturing aids and replacing powdered cellulose in ice cream". I can't find a patent yet on the Baskin Robbins product yet to verify if an RIBT product is in it.
