We’ve heard it thousands of times from Trump supporters: “I like what he’s done so far.”
Just once I’d like to hear these people asked to be specific: “Exactly what has Trump done that you like?”
What I’ve seen ‘done’ so far is this: He’s ballooned the deficit, and given tax cuts to the wealthy. He has insulted our allies, and praised our enemies. He has lifted environmental protections so that corporations can increase their profits.
He has put inept cronies in positions of power, and his closest advisors are a handbag designer and a dumbass who inherited his father’s real estate business. Many of his much-touted “best people” are awaiting trial, are already in prison, or have been forced to resign in disgrace due to criminal and/or unethical conduct.
He promised a Wall that still hasn’t been built – and which Mexico certainly isn’t paying for. He promised to replace Obamacare with something cheaper and more efficient that would cover “everyone” – and what he eventually delivered was shot-down because it was more expensive than Obamacare, and would have meant a loss of coverage for millions.
He has lied repeatedly to the citizenry, acted the buffoon on the world’s stage, and incited violence at his rallies. His “university” was shut-down because it was a fraud, and his “charitable foundation” was shuttered because a judge declared it “rife with corruption”.
He paid off women to keep them silent about his affairs, and refuses to release his tax returns and records of his financial dealings.
He consistently embarrasses us in front of the global community with his complete ignorance of history, geography, and science – and ludicrous statements about wind turbines causing cancer, and the American revolution being won by shutting down the airports.
I’ve seen Trump-humpers being interviewed on news shows – and just once I’d like the interviewer to ask them exactly what it is they claim to like about what this “pResident” has accomplished.
I suspect the response would be that same vacuous, blank stare they adopt when asked how many states there are, or who won the Civil War.
