in Manhattan Beach California
1971 San Fernando earthquake
a few miles away < >
Did not feel it but heard the giant cracking sound
and with the walls moving we woke up completely
clear headed within a couple seconds
and got the hell out of our apt.
Very minor local damage.
A dam almost broke which would
have been another story altogether.
