If you read about Rebel, they have changed email to a certain degree and enhanced the experience. I can see it in my emails from home depot - "You recently bought Wheatland 3/4 in. x 10 ft. ...Tell us about it!"
You can rate a product and write a review right in the email. Home Depot said review went up 55% after they implemented it. I can see why. Who wants to click a link, be redirected to a website and then possibly have to log into it to write a review. Make it frictionless and more people will.

Salesforce picks up interactive email startup Rebel
