3 antioxidants that reduce inflammation in heart failure patients

https://www.naturalhealth365.com/heart-failur...-3006.html

We know that antioxidants support overall wellbeing by assisting in the detoxification process – at the cellular level. Now an April 2019 study presented at Experimental Biology 2019 revealed three antioxidants in particular can dramatically improve the health of heart failure patients.

Simply put: the combination of alpha lipoic acid, vitamin C and vitamin E bring many more health benefits than each nutrient, separately. In fact, heart failure patients taking these three antioxidants experienced a reduction in harmful inflammation as well as an increase in nitric oxide – both markers of good heart health.

Important news for over 5 million Americans affected by heart failure
Heart failure is caused by an inability of the heart to pump blood effectively. Around half of heart failure patients have a condition called “preserved ejection fraction” (or, diastolic heart failure) – in which the left ventricle is impaired and can’t relax enough to fill properly.

Keep in mind, heart disease causes the most fatalities in the U.S. – each year – at well over 600,000. Heart failure is also a major issue, affecting up to 5 million Americans.

For the study, 16 heart failure patients were given either a placebo or a combination of 1,000 mg of vitamin C, 600 mg alpha lipoic acid and 600 international units of vitamin E. During the study, microvascular and large blood vessel functioning were assessed.

Participants in each group were crossed over into the other and then tested again for vessel function. And, the results?

Those taking the antioxidant supplements showed significantly improved mediated dilation as well as less inflammation.

Antioxidants reduce fatigue in up to 90 percent of heart failure patients
Dr. Matthias Rath has made similar discoveries in his research related to Cellular Medicine. He reports on a pilot clinical trial where heart failure patients were administered a micronutrient supplementation regime over a half a year.

At the study outset, 70 percent of participants showed extensive impairment of their daily activities and 30 percent reported moderate limitations. Patients taking the supplements showed improved heart pumping activity and a decrease in shortness of breath.

They also reported having increased overall quality of life due to these medical improvements. Irregular heartbeat disappeared in 80 percent of participants, and severe fatigue was no longer an issue for 90 percent.

Dr. Rath points out that conventional heart medications can have (unwanted) side effects and also leach essential nutrients from the body. Treating heart issues naturally is always preferable, and he recommends taking CoQ10, magnesium and B-complex vitamins for heart health as well as vitamins C and E.

The key antioxidants for heart health
Another study published in the 2011 American Heart Journal, in 2011, also verified the efficacy of vitamin C supplementation for heart health. For the study, 21,000 adults age 39 to 79 were assessed. Those who took the most vitamin C showed dramatically reduced risk of heart failure.

Bottom line: getting enough of these key nutrients – vitamin C, E, alpha lipoic acid, magnesium and CoQ10 – is a smart way to get many health protective benefits. The main point is: you can (in many cases) dramatically improve your condition, if you’re suffering from heart failure.

Find a good integrative physician to work with and look forward to better days.
