CCL5 and the overexpression of CCR5 add to the likelihood of cancer development.
"CCL5 promotes vascular endothelial growth factor expression and induces angiogenesis by down-regulating miR-199a in human chondrosarcoma cells"
One of the hallmarks of tumor growth is a massive network of blood vessels. The last thing you want is promotion of angiogenesis.
In a paper I read a while back (with Dr. Pestell being one of the co-authors) they explain that CCR5 may aid in cancer stem cells being able to repair their DNA even after chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
CCL5/CCR5 bad
In fact I would go so far as to say anyone hit with an accidental radiation exposure or undergoing radiation therapy would highly benefit by taking a CCR5 blocker like leronlimab.
