Great Headline, but that's about all. The quest

The question with Carbon Capture is when will it be less expensive to take pollutants out of the environment than it costs to make clean sources of energy to replace the polluting energy sources. It is much cheaper to produce solar cells, wind turbines or hydro electricity than what is called "Synthetic Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage" (SDACCS), which actually makes pollutants while capturing carbon, increasing the cost. That's why Solterra making QDSC can do more than carbon capture to reduce global warming, and will do so at the LCOE(nergy).
A recent Stanford paper makes that point, concluding -
Quote:
In sum, so long as grid emissions occur, SDACCS will always increase air pollution no matter how low its cost, and SDACCS will always increase CO2 emissions until its direct cost is much lower than that of WWS (Water-Wind-Solar) technologies. Further, it always increases the mining, transport, and processing of fossil fuels compared with using WWS instead.
