Tampa Bay philanthropist Kiran Patel has yet another feather in his hat. Patel, who made his fortune selling HMO WellCare Health Plans, was appointed senior advisor to New York investment firm BelHealth Investment partners, the firm said in a release.
"There is no one better to help us continue our growth, especially in specialty physician companies," Harold Blue, managing partner at BelHealth, said. "His success in business and philanthropy speaks for itself, and he has an unmatched track record of increasing shareholder value."
Patel will focus on evaluating new investments for the firm, keep an eye on new trends in health care and help the firm invest in "middle-market health care companies," BelHealth said.
