FDA approval..patents based on research and phase studies...how exactly is that the same?

Not even close to the same thing....
OTC products are approved based on past information on ingredients deemed safe....that is not science....that is efficacy...
In terms of bringing pharmaceutical grade therapies into the market...that's a completely different class of products....
