As stated in my previous post, Uceris is just one drug that has a small percentage of the giant Ulcerative Colitis/IBD market. Do not forget that Brilacidin MAY be something that can be developed for IBD.
You simply cannot take the sales of ONE drug in a large universe of drugs used for a syndrome, and then guess that some multiplier will produce a meaningful figure. IT WILL NOT.
And what if it turns out that Brilacidin is a CURE, not just temporary remission-inducing? Do you think anyone would prescribe any other drug, if there is one that cures the disease, rather than causes temporary remission? How do you value that?
By the way, Uceris is not administered solely by pill. Sometimes it is administered by enema. When people claim that the enema is just so very, very awful that people are not going to comply with an enema regimen for a few weeks -- how silly is that? Do you think that a few weeks of a small amount of drug administered rectally is worse than constant pain, diarrhea, bloody stools, etc? If so, you don't know anyone who has this disease.
The bottom line is that no one knows how many syndromes Brilacidin will prove to be useful for -- or whether it's a cure or just induces remission.
Speculating eventual price or the price of an upfront partner's payment is just absurd, and is being used by bashers to try to make last week's great news look less important than it is.
Transparent.
