I do find them interesting...:
They claim to reduce latent virus in blood reservoirs , and CNS , and reduce HAND , often call HIV dementia witch according to some study affects about 50% of HIV patients , and is NOT affected by HAART.
Studies with CCR5 inhibitors are very impressive , and we are lucky that Pfizer is willing to spend money on it with Maraviroc. We are learning a lot about Leronlimab just following them.
Studies with Maraviroc suggest that significantly reduced viral replication in CNS and suggest that it might reduce the CNS latent HIV reservoir in addition to reducing viral replication.
It is more difficult to prove all this in human ,
but the implication of it will be , that combo treatment might be very beneficial treatment not only for drug resistant patients , but for every patients on HAART to prevent HAND , HIV dementia.
So yes , still much to learn..
