More and more AI is in the picture in the form of code from some high (very high) tech computer geeks.
The playing field will never be level for retail traders. One has to be on their toes. For the most part, fundamental trading is still a realistic and a good long term strategy. But most of the houses out there are playing the technical stupid games that trigger massive volatilities. This is the crap that can just kill retail if they react to it. If the stock is good, ignore the day to day. IPIX may just be one of the big dogs some day. AND SOME DAY SOON!!
This coming from a somewhat technical trader since I do swing trade. But even that strategy can bite you in the back side if it's timed wrong. I am also a very in depth fundamental trader/investor.
