Or your business could go under by 100 people leaving you bad reviews on Yelp, Facebook, etc. You wouldn't have to lie, cheat and steal. What lengths would you go to to save your business if wretched people defamed you? I would say DF may have pushed legality, but has not blatently commited a crime. All the desparate moves he has made is because people will profit if he goes out of business.
