As with many criminally funded bootleg operations, their dirty deeds go way beyond simply scoffing at the law where it pertains to what they are bootlegging.
As is so often the case, the environment, wildlife and even people become the victims of the irresponsible (and often evil) thugs who run these illegal grow operations just as they would for the worst of the cartels.
They will fall to the determination of many who adamantly oppose and even loathe what they're doing. Granted, not all illegal grows are run by "thugs", but they'd best get out while the gettin's good cause they'll get caught in the same sweeps.
The state wants to legalize marijuana RESPOSIBLY, and there are many facets to getting it right, including environmental impact. Part of the reason the licensing process has been slow. It's a very large, environmentally diverse state. No easy task.
