BALTIMORE, NEW YORK & DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2004--Security Biometrics, Inc. (OTCBB:SBTI), a leader in biometric signature authentication solutions powered by Penflow(TM), today announced that its subsidiary eMedRx(TM) (USA) has signed an agreement with Health Resources Inc., the 16th largest Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) in the USA, with 1.8M covered lives, to integrate 'electronic document management solutions' into their workflow.
"We are pleased to be partnering with Health Resources to introduce the eMedRx(TM) e-prescribing technology using our signature authentication solution," said Jeff Maynard President and CEO of eMedRx(TM). The eMedRx(TM) e-prescribing system ensures a legible prescription is handed to the patient or is sent directly to the patients' pharmacy. Physicians enrolled in our program sign their names on each prescription and using our digital biometric technology the prescription is authenticated and moves through the eMedRx(TM) server system. Unlike other e-prescribing systems only eMedRx(TM) uses the most advanced encryption standards to protect patient health data and uses Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to transmit this data to the pharmacy. The eMedRx(TM) encryption standards ensure the highest integrity of patient data and its transmission. In addition, physicians are able to check drug-to-drug interactions at the point of prescribing, offer patients a StarterScript(TM), provide coupons for discounts at retail drug stores or provide educational materials to enhance compliance.
David Dalton President and CEO of Health Resources said, "We have been searching for an electronic prescription management solution for some time and we are very pleased to have found eMedRx's(TM) secure "EMD" solution. We estimate multi-million dollar cost reductions in the U.S. as the industry embraces the efficiency, security and authenticity of Electronic Medical Documentation. With the ever-increasing requirement under HIPPA for secure access to patients' records through offline/online requests, eMedRx's Penflow(TM) biometric signature authentication system can provide a high level of restricted access." Dr. Dalton also serves on the boards of Security Biometrics and eMedRx, Canada and U.S. subsidiaries.

Security Biometrics Inc. develops markets and distributes biometric signature authentication solutions powered by Penflow(TM)a system based on proprietary patents in which signatures are validated in a quick, non-invasive accurate manner. The Penflow(TM) authentication engine views the signing process as a series of movements performed in a continuous, consistent and sequential process. The Penflow(TM) algorithm allows signature authentication by monitoring human hand movements (pressure, speed, and rhythm) instead of the final image.
