WTMF Top 10 Goals - LWLG 100Gbs is #2, this is HUG
Post# of 871
NOTE: Top 2 Goals for World Technology Mapping Forum (WTMF) are 100Gbs device related, device development (Lightwave Logic) and testing!
WTMF June 2018 “Conclusions” Slide 16
Divided 100 points over the following challenges based on IMPORTANCE
#1 - 21% - Test Equipment for 100Gb
#2 - 16% - Must operate at 100Gbs NRZ/100GBaud(for 800 and 1.6Tbps sytem design)
#3 - 9% - Coherent and multi modulation schemes/architectures
#4 - 8% - High performance, cost effective Packaging for telecom PIC’s
#5 - 7% - Stake in ground for long future price breakdown for Product, Materials, Packaging, Test etc
#6 - 6% - More Intelligent IC design for DSP to assist Optics in Long Haul fiber
#7 - 6% - Faster standards for new smaller footprint, higher performing Repeaters/Amplifiers design
#8 - 4% - Denser WDM designs with more effective Mux/Demux
#9 - 4% - Low cost Tunable Lasers for flexibility (mostly for Mobile and FTTH)
#10 - 3% - SIP for Telecom
#11 - 3% Longer Repeater Spans? New designs?
#12 - 2% - Roadmap for massive cost reductions
#13 - 1% - Must be able to work with tighter Optical Link budgets
#14 - 1% - Low Cost, High Yield, Stable (life time)

There may be 1000's of companies looking for solutions, but very very very few are smack dab on the Photonics Industry Roadmap!
Check out Slide 16 to see what the Roadmap deemed level of Importance for future developments, they took 100 points and allocated that total amongst areas of concern for development, the top two point getters were
1) Test equipment for 100Gbs (got 21 pts)
2) Must operate at 100 Gbs NRZ ( got 16 pts)
no other entry got double digit points assigned to it!
