Trump Observes Good Friday with Moving Image and a Message of Peace

n an era of multiculturalism and political correctness, there are few politicians left who are willing to put themselves out there with a bold and declarative position on their faith, especially if that faith is Christianity.

Many politicians are too afraid to cause offense or lose the votes of those with differing beliefs if they take such a position.

That doesn’t seem to be the case, however, for President Donald Trump.

Trump has shown no qualms whatsoever when it comes to publicly embracing Christianity, despite pushback for doing so from the increasingly secular and anti-Christian left.

As such, it should come as no surprise — at least to the president’s supporters — that he used social media today to mark a rather significant day on the Christian calendar: Good Friday.

In a post to his Facebook page, President Trump wrote, “May everyone have a blessed and peaceful Good Friday.”

That post featured a picture of three crosses set against the background of the sky at sunrise, with a caption that declared “It is finished.”

As it is written in the Bible in John 19:30, those were the final words of Jesus Christ prior to his death on the cross after being crucified by the Romans — at the behest of the religious authorities of the time — over his claim to be the Son of God and the path to salvation.

Indeed, Christ’s death on the cross for the sins of all mankind, followed by His resurrection three days later, is the very reason for the celebration of the holy days of Good Friday and Easter.

As previously noted, it is rare these days for a political leader of the president’s stature to so boldly and openly profess their faith.

But, as it has become obvious in so many ways over the past several years, Trump is not like the vast majority of other politicians, and really doesn’t care if he offends others or not.

In contrast, many of those other politicians, even those who occasionally proclaim their Christianity in public, would nevertheless tend to refrain from doing so in an overt and unmistakable manner, or would at best give only a passing reference to the significance of this particular day.

Although there will no doubt be some, particularly on the left, who will take issue with the president’s post, there are probably so many more who greatly appreciate Trump’s message and are thrilled to have a president who is unafraid of publicly displaying a Christian message.

Indeed, from the tens of thousands of comments and replies to Trump’s post from his Christian supporters, the overwhelming majority of them expressed gratitude and thankfulness for his desire that everyone enjoy a “blessed and peaceful” day.

Furthermore, many of those messages returned the wished-for blessings back on the president, with countless offerings of peace and blessed assurance to him and his family.

It is indeed a bit of a pleasant change of pace to once again have a president in the White House who is unashamed to openly celebrate a holy day for Christians without making it about himself or diluting it with some sort of all-inclusive message for everyone of all faiths.
