White House adviser Ivanka Trump is continuing to push for women’s rights. She recently announced a two million dollar investment for women in the Ivory Coast’s cocoa industry.
On Wednesday, the First Daughter met with top government officials as part of her four-day trip to the West African region in order to promote the U.S. initiative aimed at advancing women’s participation in the workplace.
Her Women’s Global Development and Prosperity initiative seeks to benefit 50 million women in developing countries by 2025.

“Imagine how many will benefit if we have 300 more associations such as this, and we create a connection for 500 existing ones to the formal financial market place,” said Ivanka. “So, we are incredibly excited to have this opportunity to further the great work being done by the women here in Cote d’Ivoire in the cocoa industry.”
This comes as the country was ranked 133 out of 144 in 2018 in regards to a report compiled by the world economic forum on gender inequality.
