You cited an anecdote about drunk parents triggering investigations by CPS which are costly? And you even stated that "some" of them were illegal.
What does that have to do with how inferior our healthcare system is to every single country in the developed world?
Sure, we have the best equipment and some of the best doctors. We also have supercars and $50m mansions. What benefit are good things if only a select few can afford to consume them?
You say America can't afford universal healthcare and I say that's BS. A single-payer system would be cheaper.
The social contract between citizens and government is that we are happy to pay taxes so long as we get services matching that value. That is not the case but it is in many socialist-democratic countries.
Oops, I said the dirty word: socialist. Before you pick up on that, understand education, emergency services, hell the NFL, are all socialist. A balance of socialism and capitalism is ideal, ergo a socialist-democratic society.
If you want to keep private healthcare providers for your fellow Floridian Fox News retirees, go for it. Single payer or universal healthcare doesn't outlaw private insurance. I grew up in the UK and utilized both systems at different times. But nobody should die or go bankrupt because they cannot afford medical care in the richest country in the world and arguing otherwise is both dishonest and immoral.
